General Assembly Goes Digital
For more than 200 years the General Assembly gathering of Presbyterian Church (USA) has met in face-to-face conversations. This year, of course, is different. Nevertheless, the General Assembly will gather on June 19, 26, and 27 through electronic means. You are most welcome to join in electronically through https://ga-pcusa.org/ .
Items to Keep in Prayer
Pray for this unique gathering of Presbyterian Christians from around the world.
Pray that God’s will is done (and that the technology doesn’t have too many “glitches”).
Pray for your commissioners—Ruling Elder ‘Chip’ McCoy, New Bethlehem Church, Aliquippa and Teaching Elder Mary Kitchen, pastor of North Butler and East Butler Churches.
Pray for patience. In an altered General Assembly there will be less opportunity for interaction and statements on pressing global issues like racism and pandemic. This electronic gathering of hundreds of people to discern the will of Christ is seeking – as best they can—to focus on the most essential work of the church. That means, of course, that it has become necessary to defer some items to the 225th General Assembly in 2022, which is scheduled to be held in Columbus, OH.
