SECRETARIES HONORED AT LUNCHEON

Posted April 30, 2024

The presbytery’s annual Secretaries Luncheon was held on Administrative Professionals Day, Wednesday, April 24, at the Presbytery Center. Tables were decorated in bright colors using flowers and gifts of quilted mug rugs and jars filled with M&Ms. The guests would soon see that the colors of the M&Ms were to represent the different Fruits of the Spirit.

On behalf of the Ministry and Vocation Committee (MVC), Executive Tom Harmon, welcomed the group and thanked them for their important work in our churches. MVC Chair, Denise Hobaugh, then opened with a devotion.

A delicious luncheon featuring salads, fresh fruit, quick breads and Denise’s gourmet cupcakes was served by Denise and enjoyed by all.

Guest presenter, Andrea VanSchepen, followed lunch with a program that continued the gathering’s theme. Andrea lead the ladies in a time of quiet reflection, where they identified areas of their life where they need more of a specific fruit—such as love, joy, peace or patience. Andrea then explained the process of connecting art to worship and Bible study. Each guest was encouraged to draw and paint flowers representing the fruit of the spirit that they had chosen. Under Andrea’s patient guidance, the small canvases began to come alive with their unique and creative expressions.

Too soon it was time to put away the paints, but everyone’s spirit felt lifted. The guests departed with gifts and a piece of art for their office desk.

Thank you to everyone who attended and to Barb Paff, the office staff and all those who helped honor our church secretaries and office administrators.
