The Rev. Dr. Jim Kirk was recognized at the July Presbytery upon his retirement from ministry. He most recently served as the full-time pastor of Valencia Church in Valencia until his retirement in July.

Pastor Jim was born and raised in the Plum area of Pittsburgh where he was active in the Presbyterian Church. He attended Westminster College. He then worked for 26 years in medical laboratory sales before answering the call to ministry.

Pastor Jim received his Masters of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, graduating in 2008. He was then ordained by Pittsburgh Presbytery and began serving Ken Mawr Presbyterian Church in McKees Rocks as their associate pastor.

In 2011, Pastor Jim began serving the Valencia Church as their full time pastor. During his time at Valencia Church, he studied for and received his Doctorate of Ministry. Pastor Jim has served on the Coordinating Team for Beaver-Butler Presbytery.

Valencia Church celebrated the retirement of Pastor Jim with a reception on July 2, his final day in the pulpit. We thank Pastor Jim for his ministry in our presbytery and wish him and his wife, Kathy, much happiness and fulfillment in retirement.
