January 1, 1920-January 24, 2022

Posted February 1, 2021

With full hearts we share the news of the peaceful passing of friend and colleague, Agnes Peebles. Most recently a resident of Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community in Cranberry Township and active member of Calvin Church, Zelienople, PA, Agnes is well-known throughout Presbyterian circles.

Born and raised on a farm in Lawrence County, PA, Agnes was a graduate of Penn State University majoring in sociology and English and later completed a major in secondary education.

Agnes served as an educational consultant for Synod of the Trinity, taught at synod schools across the country, authored many educational articles and guides, and was an adjunct professor at Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA. In 1986, she was voted the Association of Presbyterian Church Educators (APCE) Educator of the Year.

Agnes joyfully served on several Beaver-Butler Presbytery units and committees often as the chair. In 2019, Agnes was honored by our presbytery for compiling the historical data for all of our churches.

A memorial service is being planned for the spring.
