Coordinator for GA Nominations Requests Assistance
The Co-Moderators of the 224th General Assembly (2020) will soon appoint persons to serve on the Administrative Commission on Mid Councils created by the 223rd General Assembly (2018) in response to Item 00-19 that establishes an administrative commission “authorized to act as the General Assembly upon requests of synods and presbyteries, with the authority of the General Assembly by ‘approving the acts of synods to organize, divide, unite, or combine presbyteries or portions of presbyteries’ according to G-3.0502e.” (See the July 7th edition of the Mid Council Relations Newsletter for more information).
Submission of application forms by July 21 was encouraged but the portal will remain open until the Co-Moderators make their appointments. Responses have been received thus far but a more diverse pool for their discernment is needed to increase the number of applicants who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, ruling elders, women, under 46 years of age, and from a wider geographic distribution. Thus the portal will remain open, and your assistance is requested in identifying and encouraging persons from these categories who would serve well on the Administrative Commission if appointed.
Anyone who feels called to be considered for appointment will need to complete and submit an online application form found at ganominations.pcusa.org. Please direct those you have identified to the application portal or send their contact information to the valerie izumi so she can correspond with them.
