  • Explore the backgrounds to the Reformations and each of the four Reformation traditions.

300th Anniversary of the Synod of the Trinity

The first meeting of the Synod of the Trinity was on 9-17-1717. On September 17, 2017 we will celebrate 300 years of Synod of the Trinity! Start planning now to include your church in the celebration…
  • Revealing Hope video stories about the life and hope of people, churches, and events are being posted. Read them to see what our fellow Presbyterians have been doing. If you have an idea for a subject, email Communications Coordinator Mike Givler here with the details.
  • Presbytery Histories have been added to the website. Rev. Bob Mathias wrote and history for Beaver-Butler Presbytery. He talks about the ‘blending’ of 4 presbyteries and 2 denominations to form what we know as Beaver-Butler Presbytery.
  • Synod Grants. Look for the listing of Synod Grants and see how your group of church can apply for one. They have specific criteria and several expire onJune 30, so get started on a possibility for your church!!
Check out the Synod website for information at www.syntrinity.org

Presbytery Nominating Committee Is Looking for New Members

volunteer_sheet_hdr.jpg

The Presbytery Nominating Committee has several positions to fill. These are great opportunities for new adventures and new learning. The work involves time and effort.  But if it is God’s will, He will be beside you. Do not fear!

The committee prays that we will be led to those persons who have been called by God to serve in Beaver-Butler Presbytery. Are you such a person? Consider praying for the Holy Spirit to lead you as you would consider serving the presbytery.
As you might know, this can not be a one-time prayer. The prayer may not be answered this week or this month, but keep praying, because such answer or outcome is within God’s time frame.
Maybe the answer is a distinct no. But when you are asked by the committee, you will be able to clearly discern if and where you are being led.
Contact the Presbytery Office if you are interested in serving on a committee
or if you know of someone in your church who has the gifts for this ministry.

Synod Anniversary Grants

There are two important grants available to the presbyteries of our Synod as part of our 300th Synod Anniversary. They must be applied for through the Presbytery Office. Contact the office if your church is interested in more information.

1. Sowing the Future Grants are for global mission partnerships and need to be requested by the presbytery. These are easy, no-brainer grants, offered as a way that the Synod of the Trinity can support the special mission emphases of our region. Who can you check in with to make sure that these monies are dispersed to your presbytery sooner rather than later? The exec or stated clerk? The moderator? The chair of a mission committee or task group? Please nudge these folks and share the paperwork with them.

2. Freedom Grants are a regional complement to the national Freedom Rising Emphasis relating to African American males. What communities or congregations might best take advantage of this opportunity? Can you provide us with contact information for a congregation, individual or community organization connected to the church who might want to apply? THE DEADLINE FOR THESE IS JUNE 30TH and it is important to get these out there!
